SubSnooze Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 29, 2026
What SubSnooze Does
SubSnooze is a small utility for controlling your Sonos subwoofer on your local home network. It discovers Sonos speakers on your Wi-Fi and lets you schedule quiet hours — so your subwoofer automatically turns off at night and back on in the morning. No account required. No internet required.
No Personal Data Is Collected
SubSnooze does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. This is not a legal formality — it is technically accurate. The app has no server, no analytics, no crash reporter, and no third-party SDKs. There is nowhere for data to go.
What Stays on Your Device
The only information SubSnooze stores is your quiet hours schedule and app preferences. This data is stored locally on your device using each platform's standard storage (UserDefaults on iOS, a local SQLite database on desktop). It never leaves your device.
Local Network Communication
SubSnooze communicates with Sonos speakers on your local Wi-Fi network using the standard UPnP protocol. All communication happens entirely within your home network. No requests are made to the internet, and no information about your speakers, schedule, or usage is transmitted anywhere outside your local network.
No Analytics or Tracking
SubSnooze contains no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind. We do not know how many people use the app, how often it is used, or anything else about usage patterns.
No Third-Party Data Sharing
We do not share data with third parties because we do not have any data to share. SubSnooze is not affiliated with Sonos, Inc. and does not integrate with Sonos cloud services.
GDPR Compliance
SubSnooze does not process personal data as defined by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). No legal basis for processing is required because no personal data is processed. The app does not identify, profile, or track any individual user.
Children
SubSnooze is rated 4+ and is appropriate for all ages. We do not knowingly collect data from children or any other demographic because we do not collect data from anyone.
Waitlist Data
The SubSnooze landing page on kerta.no offers an optional waitlist where you can submit your email address to be notified when SubSnooze launches. The waitlist is the only place SubSnooze itself processes any personal data, and it is strictly opt-in.
- Purpose: to send you a one-time notification when SubSnooze launches.
- Lawful basis: your explicit consent at the point of capture (GDPR art. 6(1)(a)). Submission requires you to tick a consent checkbox; no pre-ticked boxes are used.
- Data collected: the email address you provide, the locale you submitted from (en or nb), an HMAC-SHA256 of your IP address keyed with an internal server secret (for abuse rate-limiting only — non-reversible without the server key, never the raw IP), and a timestamp.
- Retention: until SubSnooze launches plus 30 days, or earlier if you request deletion. Unconfirmed (pending) entries are deleted automatically after 24 hours.
- Controller: Konsulent Dan Gøran Lunde AS (org. no. 814726592).
- How to delete your entry: email dan@kerta.no and we will remove your record promptly.
- Sub-processors: Microsoft Azure (Azure Tables, EU region — encrypted storage at rest); Microsoft Graph (sends the one-time confirmation email from dan@kerta.no); Cloudflare Turnstile (bot-check on form submission — does not see your email, only an opaque challenge token).
- No marketing reuse: your email is used solely for the launch notification. It is not added to any newsletter, shared with third parties, or used for profiling.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes in a meaningful way (for example, if a future version of SubSnooze adds optional analytics), we will update this page with a new date and notify users via an in-app notice.
